Pastor's Pen
From the desk of
Pastor Paul
The Apostle Paul warned the Christians in Corinth stating I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ, (2 Corinthians 11:3). One of the primary ways Christians are lead astray is very subtle. The subtly is by somehow accepting, either through our upbringing, our experience, or through church legalism that certain portions of the life of Christ are untrue or not valid in our case. This is a great form of deception.
As a kid, our family had what was called a promise box. It was actually a little plastic loaf of bread that was filled with small cards that contained Scriptures of God’s promises. (I still have it.) Very often our family would each reach for the promise box and pull out a Scripture and read it to the rest of the family. Our Dad would say, “now stand on that promise today.”
This a great day to claim for us and our lives all that Jesus promised. Just as is recorded in Joshua 21:45 Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; everyone was fulfilled. All of Jesus promises to you will be fulfilled as you trust him. Not one promise will fail.
Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the Yes of Jesus. In him, this is what we preach and pray, the great Amen, God’s Yes and our Yes together, gloriously evident. God affirms us, making us a sure thing in Christ, putting his Yes within us. By his Spirit he has stamped us with his eternal pledge—a sure beginning of what he is destined to complete. (2 Corinthians 1:20-22 The Message)
So, do not be deceived you are not an exception to God’s promises. He promises to keep, to bless, to help, to encourage and to answer prayer in your life. Stand on his promises today for they are true for you just as they were true for Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Peter, James and John.
