Grace Happenings | September 21, 2021

Pastor’s Pen

I have a sense that many individuals are facing spiritual battles.  You should always expect that when God is getting glory and working good that there will be spiritual battles that commence.  Some are battling difficult people on their jobs, (be reminded of Ephesians 6:12).  Some are battling discouragement, (be reminded of Joshua 1:9).  Some are feeling overwhelmed from fighting the battle in their own strength and isolation, (be reminded of Hebrews 10:25).  Some are battling illness and suffering, (be reminded Psalm 94:18-19).

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is found in 2 Chronicles 20.  King Jehoshaphat was totally outnumbered by the enemy and was overwhelmed and afraid, but a young prophet name Jahaziel steps up and said, do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army.  For the battle is not yours, but God’s, (2 Chronicles 20:15).  Some of you are fighting battles that are not yours to fight, because the battle belongs to the Lord.  Jahaziel went on and said, stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, (2 Chronicles 20:17).

When you are in a battle, admit your powerlessness, we do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you, (2 Chronicles 20:12). When you are in a battle it is important to get your eyes off of yourself and on to the Lord.  2 Chronicles 20:22 says, as they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes [against the enemy].

So, friend begin confessing today, that the battle is not yours, but God’s and see the deliverance He will bring. Jesus invited Peter to come to Him in the storm. Some of the greatest victories are right on the other side of a conflict.

See you this weekend.
