Pastors Pen

Read Romans 8:28 with fresh eyes: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28 NIV)

Check it out in The Passion Version: So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are His lovers who have been called to fulfill His designed purpose.

Check it out in the Philips Translation: Moreover, we know that to those who love God, who are called according to His plan, everything that happens fits into a pattern for good. God, in His foreknowledge, chose them to bear the family likeness of His Son, that He might be the eldest of a family of many brothers. He chose them long ago; when the time came He called them, He made them righteous in His sight, and then lifted them to the splendor of life as His own sons.

Believing Romans 8:28 means we never embrace what feels like the absence of hope. Beloved believer, hold on to hope!  Hold on to the “all things” of Romans 8:28!  Hold on to the fact that God is good all of the time. Hope is the soil that faith grows in.

When we start doubting the “in all things” we are seeking to protect ourselves from disappointment and when we try to protect ourselves from disappointment we are giving way to unbelief.  Sure, we will be disappointed at some point in our humanness, but as believers, we are never without hope. We can trust that God will turn the worst situations into good!
