Grace Happenings | July 19, 2023

Pastor’s Pen

Bring a towel to church. You never know when you will need it…either for yourself or for a friend.

On July 29-30, we will be offering baptisms both on Saturday evening in Clear Creek (Train side) after the service and on Sunday at Grace in the baptism tank. Either work quite well; both will be cold.

I see baptism in a couple of ways.

First, baptism is always a testimony for believers. When someone gives their heart to the Lord baptism is the next step of declaring, “I am leaving the old life behind and want to come up to live a new life.”

Second, I have really felt called to baptize people who may have already been baptized, but their baptism didn’t mean what it means now. They did it out of religious obligation or without a full understanding of its significance. They didn’t realize that it is a new beginning of declaring the old man dead and genuinely being united with Christ in His death (Romans 6:5). Then coming up out of the water to live as a new creature in resurrection power. There are many believers who need to return to their first love. Many believers really need a fresh start.  If that is you – bring a towel and plan to get wet and see what God will do.  If you are not sure that’s you, bring a towel anyway – Holy Spirit may move on you or move on a friend for a fresh start!

Church, let’s step into new waters in God!

See you this weekend.

Our next meeting is on August 21.

We would love to see you there.
