Pastor’s Pen

Over the holidays I started to feel a greater urgency toward the Word, this urgency has come out of the awareness of a world that is greatly changing and by and large turning its back on spiritual values. The urgent need is not only for me and my family but all of the folks that listen as I teach the Word each week both in-person and online.

Speaking of online I am grateful for the growing audience each weekend on the Live Stream at Gracefellowhsipwy.com, Facebook, and YouTube. It is my habit after church on Sunday to connect with the Facebook audience and make comments, offer prayer and encouragement (we can’t do that with the Live Stream yet, we are working on it). I got up this morning to find that Facebook has once again censored something I wrote (happens almost every week). You might ask, “Wow Pastor, what do you write that is censored and gets deleted?”  This week it was a comment to a precious pastor and wife in Astoria, Oregon who are a part of GFam online. My comment to their simple acknowledgment of being online was, “Jake and Cherry we are blessed by you.” I don’t dare mention prayer, as it will always be flagged and deleted.

I am bringing this to your attention because we live in a world growing hostile to spiritual values. We are not called to play a “Victim or Martyr Card” we are called to equip ourselves to be powerful in prayer and the Word for the changing climate (and I’m not speaking of global warming).

Now back to the Bible….bring your Bible (at least your electronic device) to church. Don’t just follow along on the slides, dig into to what the Bible says. Is what your pastor (me or anyone else you listen to) saying true? Hide it in your heart. Let it become a part of your life.

I can see a day coming where you won’t be able to carry a Bible….yes the censored, politically correct culture and governing authorities, could get that hostile. Memorize it and hide it in your heart, that can’t be taken from you!

Isaiah 55:6

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.
