Grace Happenings | February 10

Pastor’s Pen

I am excited to share a teaching series in the month of February entitled “Falling in Love.” We are going to be talking about returning to our first love and the first fruits of falling deeply in love with Jesus. I have a friend that texted me this last week and said, “I accepted salvation by faith but then everything thing else after that started to be through works and my own power instead of living through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.”

What a profound observation. There is a subtle tendency to get saved by grace and understand that it is not on any merits of our own we bring to the cross of Christ. But then after receiving Christ we very subtly (if we are not careful) start walking in our own strength and trying to be good in our own merits.

We are not only saved by grace, we must walk by grace. Colossians 2:6 says, So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him!

Stay warm and I’ll see you this weekend.
