Envisioning God's Plan: Transforming Cemetery Creek Campus into a Safe Place for Youth

When I stand on the Cemetery Creek Campus of Grace Fellowship, I’m still amazed that

God has given the property to us. It’s not without its challenges for sure and sometimes it seems frustratingly slow. And if I’m being honest, I sometimes wonder how it’s ever going to get done. But it somehow fills me with peace and quiet and fire and excitement at the same time.

I love seeing deer and turkeys on the property. I love the sound of the creek as you sit by the fire pit. The trees and the mountains make it a beautiful place. Then I turn to the south and I see the harvest.

My favorite view from the property is Buffalo High School. I see the foyer in the new building filled with students on their lunch break with Christian music videos playing on the big screens. I see them playing basketball in the gym or throwing footballs outside when the weather is nice.

I see 5th quarters happening after sporting events at BHS or CCMS. I see kids coming after school to work on homework together. I see adults listening to and praying with kids who have fears, worries and questions.  I feel the water on my legs as I get to baptize them in Cemetery Creek. I see it becoming a place of refuge and peace for many young people who are missing that in their lives. I see them finding their God-given purpose and being equipped to step into it.

Can you see it?

What else do you see?

I have been asked to be a youth leader in the three churches I attended before moving to Buffalo. I often thought it was because I was one of the younger adults in the church and I have a good understanding of the Bible. Now I know it’s because I have the heart of a youth pastor.
