Pastor's Pen
Jonathan Roumie, the actor that plays the role of Jesus on the Chosen, is really great in how he portrays Jesus. He has to be one of the most engaging Jesus’ actors yet. We have seen untold numbers of pictures and movies that portray Jesus, so those pictures are in our minds as to how we might recognize Jesus.
The disciples on the road to Emmaus recognized Jesus when He broke bread (Luke 24:35). Jesus indicated in John 10:5 that the sheep recognize the shepherd by his voice. Revelation 1:12-18 presents a fascinating scene where the resurrected Jesus appeared to John the Revelator. His appearance was vastly different from how John had previously seen Him when he had laid his head on Jesus’ chest. Verse 14 describes Jesus' appearance: The hair on His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like blazing fire. So how did John recognize Jesus? Verse 12 says, I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. John recognized His voice.
My prayer for you and for me is that we become deeply familiar with His voice and His Word so that when He comes, we will have no trouble recognizing Him."
Looking forward to breaking open the bread of life with you this weekend.
