The Resurrection Changes Everything

I love this season of year when the buds are swelling on plants and trees, and the grass is starting to show signs of life. The air, though still brisk, is warming.  Most of all I love this time of year as it is the season to celebrate new life and resurrection.  Jesus' resurrection changes everything.  That He rose from the grave is not something we only benefit from in the future, it has amazing meaning in our lives on a daily basis.

Before Jesus' resurrection saying “Good Bye” to loved ones, at death, lacked the sense of eternal hope we have now.  Before Jesus resurrection there could not have been the sense of hope and life we now enjoy as Jesus has given us a glimpse of eternity.  When loved ones have life in Christ then death is swallowed up in hope and victory.

1 Corinthians 15:45 tells us that because of the resurrection Jesus became a life-giving spirit, which means I can be a new creation in Him.  It means I can live with the comfort and assurance that this life is not all there is.  This changes everything in that I now can tap into this source of power in my daily life and live with a renewed sense of purpose.

Here is what I find really exciting about the resurrection.  Ephesians 1:19 says the same power God used when He raised Jesus from the dead is at work in my life when I am in relationship with Jesus Christ.  This changes everything! I can go from hopeless to hopeful.  I can move from discouragement to courage.  I can turn from unbelief and doubt to assurance.  I can go from life to death.  I don’t understand it all, but I am seeing the results of this resurrected life every day.  There are many things I don’t understand; for example, I don’t understand electricity, but I know when I grabbed an electric fence, I became a believer in electricity.  I don’t understand how new life in Christ works because of resurrection, but it has changed everything.
