There are many, many nights that I lay awake or get up to do battle for individuals in the Grace family. The Lord lays many of you on my heart that you will be strong in the battles you are facing. I consider this a part of my calling as your pastor. Every pastor is required to give an account before God on how they have shepherded the flock of God. Hebrews 13:17 says, Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.
I consider it a privilege to be your pastor – all the GF staff feels that way. One of the reasons we are so blessed – we feel your encouragement and we feel your prayers.
John Piper wrote an article entitled, “How to Pray for the Pastoral Staff” I want to share it here because we are dependent on your prayers:
- Ask God to give us an inclination to His Word and not to money, or fame or power.
- Pray for our purity and that we do not come into temptation.
- Pray for our biblical, doctrinal faithfulness.
- Pray for solid, joyful, Christ-exalting marriages.
- Prayer for our boldness in witnessing to the truth and beauty and necessity of Christ.
- Prayer for visionary, creative energy.
- Prayer for power in counseling, leading, and teaching will have an eternal effect.
- Pray that we would be a small part of a great global awakening.
I would also add pray against the discouragement that comes in the face of criticism that all leaders often face. Pray for our spouses they feel the pressure of the battle too.
Love you and can’t wait to worship in Spirit and truth with you this weekend.

A note on funds.…
The Building Fund is a restricted fund which means monies designated to this fund can only be used for capital expenses, which includes land acquisition and building of buildings and the cost of furnishing such building. It is restricted in usage so it is not used for day-to-day expenses, utilities, salaries, etc.
With our tithes and offerings, we support the General Fund which is an unrestricted fund. This fund cares for the upkeep, utilities, salaries, and general needs of ministry with the church.
